Independence Excavating (IX) was selected to perform critical erosion control measures in support of the construction of a 9-acre solar farm in Sykesville, MD. The site’s sloped topography and proximity to a sensitive wetland area required a proactive and meticulous approach to minimize environmental impact.

IX initiated the project by establishing a stabilized construction entrance and installing a perimeter silt fence to prevent sediment migration. To ensure long-term site stability, any disturbed areas were promptly stabilized to mitigate erosion risks. Once the perimeter was secured, IX installed aggregate level spreaders along the entire downslope border, effectively dispersing runoff and preventing concentrated flows into the wetland. These strategic measures provided lasting protection, ensuring the site remains environmentally sound for years to come.
