Independence Excavating (IX) was contracted by a repeat client to perform erosion control installation, grading, laydown area preparation, and perimeter fencing for a solar development project in Upper Marlboro, MD. Situated in a residential area near protected waterways—including the Potomac and Patuxent Rivers, as well as the Chesapeake Bay—the project required a carefully engineered construction sequence to minimize runoff and environmental impact.

IX began by installing perimeter controls, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and enabling earthwork operations to establish the required slopes for the solar system. Mid-project design modifications necessitated adjustments, but IX efficiently executed the rework with minimal impact on the schedule and budget, ultimately delivering the redesigned subgrade ahead of schedule.

To complete the scope, IX installed a perimeter security fence, safeguarding the client’s investment and ensuring long-term site protection. Through proactive problem-solving and a commitment to quality, IX successfully delivered a seamless and environmentally responsible site preparation solution.
