Recently, Independence Excavating was recommended by the local unions in Virginia to complete a sitework and utilities project for a 490,000 square‐foot data center campus on 38 acres in Ashburn, Virginia. The scope of work included a 100,000 cubic yard excavation, intense storm water management, sanitary sewer and miles of ductile iron water line utilities.
The project was broken down into multiple phases with Phase 1A being a 3‐acre electrical substation, preliminary erosion and sediment controls, 42” and 36” RCP piping with structures, existing utility demolition and electrical duct bank installation. We will complete the remainder of the sitework and utilities at a later date.
The Phase 1A portion of the project began in mid‐June and was completed in September. As the project unfolded, Independence Excavating worked with the owner, Loudoun County, Dewberry Engineering, Power Contracting, and both operator and labor union locals to build an excellent team to facilitate this project in a timely manner with the best possible result.
As this project continues to move forward, Independence Excavating looks forward to continuing this relationship, as well as building new relationships in the mid‐ Atlantic region.
Independence Excavating, Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of their Mid‐Atlantic office located at: 207 East Holly Avenue, Suite 106, Sterling, Virginia 20164
