Independence Excavating assists in successful blast at First Energy's Lakeshore Power Plant

Bet-IX officially hired Dykon Explosive Demolition to perform the blast of the 306’ tall concrete stack and a large coal fired boiler (steel frame) structure simultaneously as part of the demolition of FirstEnergy’s Lakeshore Power Plant on Lake Erie. Coordination was made with all local, state and federal agencies included but not limited to ODOT, CFD, CPD, USCG, FAA, Homeland Security, Cuyahoga County Emergency Management, City of Cleveland Building & Housing, Cleveland Traffic Commissioner, and Cleveland MetroParks.
